Wenhua Yu received his the Doctor's Degree in Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Techniques from the Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, in 1994, the Master's Degree in Electromagnetic Fields and Microwave Techniques from the Beijing Broadcasting Institute, Beijing, in 1988, respectively. From February 1995 to September 1996, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Beijing Institute of Technology.

From September 1996, he has been with the Electromagnetic Communication Research Laboratory in the Electrical Engineering Department of the Pennsylvania State University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Since May 1999, he has been employed by Pennsylvania State University as a research associate. His research interests include advanced electromagnetic field theory, computer-aided design of electromagnetic systems and microwave techniques.
